Dificultades comunes en el tratamiento integral de niños con problemas de atención y aprendizaje en México

RESUMEN
Es común que, en su práctica clínica diaria, el pediatra en México enfrente casos de niños con problemas en el aprovechamiento escolar, bajo rendimiento académico y trastornos de conducta. No solo existen dificultades en la decisión del tratamiento farmacológico, sino también respecto a las múltiples opciones terapéuticas y escolares existentes.
En este artículo se describen las diferentes herramientas diagnósticas para esta clase de problemas, así como, desde un punto de vista integral, las fortalezas y debilidades de las diferentes variantes terapéuticas, los planteles educativos y los tratamientos farmacológicos; además de las soluciones habituales a problemas comunes en estos pacientes. Al final, se hacen algunas recomendaciones prácticas para el manejo de estos niños y sus familias en el consultorio.
