ABSTRACT

Myofibroma is a benign tumor that manifests as a solitary lesion, it is derived from myoblasts. Most of the reported lesions in literature are in soft tissues, there have only been a few cases reported within the mandible. When found in soft tissues, they are more frequently diagnosed in children and women. Intraosseous lesions are more commonly encountered in men and older people. Patients with mandibular myofibroma present with an asymptomatic swelling accompanied by an intraoral mass of soft tissue with a normal appearance mucosa overlying it, which is the result of cortical plate perforation by the central tumor. Evolution time can range from a few days to several years. We present a case of myofibroma in the mandibular angle and body and its treatment.

Key words: Myofibroma, myofibroblasts.
