Objective: To determine the effectivenes in the functional symptomatology (gravity, pain legs, cramps, ardor and edema) in the patients dealt with FABROVEN (Ruscus aculeatus, hesperidina metilchalcona, ascorbic acid) with chronic venous insufficiency.
Patients and method: This study was undertaken to determine the effectiveness and tolerability of the FABROVEN (Ruscus aculeatus, hesperidina metilchalcona, ascorbic acid), in patients with chronic venous insufficiency, a period of October 2005 to August 2006), in a total of 170 patients, Treatment that received each patient was of 2 capsules per day of FABROVEN, a period of 6 months of treatment.
Sede: Policlinica "Lic. Juan Fernandez Albarran" of the Issemym, the City of Toluca, State of Mexico.
Inclusion criteria: The evaluation criteria were determined at the beginning, the 3 months and at the end of the study, and were: Functional symptomatology, (gravity and pain the legs, cramps, ardor and edema), and tolerance to the treatment. All the caught patients of first time in the external consultation with diagnose of chronic venous insufficiency, CEAP (C0, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5), of October 2005 to February 2006.
Exclusion criteria: Patients with chronic sufferings like Mellitus Diabetes, Arterial Hypertension, Neuropaty, Osteoartritis, etc.
Results: It was made the pursuit of 170 patients, by a period of three and six months with a therapeutic handling of monotherapy with FABROVEN, 113 patients of feminine sex and 57 patients of masculine, sex, with an average of age of: 35-55 years (± 5 years), with prevailed of overweight of 112 patients. At the beginning of the study the moderate pain is the symptom that frequently appear in the patients with 139 of them, followed of edema (126 patients) and cramps (125 patients), with an important diminution to three months of treatment with 65 patients who continued with moderate pain, with edema 37 patients, and 38 patients with persistence of cramps of moderate intensity, and to finish of the study it was observed diminution of pain in the legs in a 80% of patients asimptomatic, 77% of patients without edema, and in relation to the presence of cramps a 87% of patients asimptomatic.
Conclusions: The Chronic Venous Insufficiency and its complications suppose a significant deterioration of the quality of life of the patients and constitute a very limitant pathology sometimes. The present treatments, although do not allow to solve this disease, if they are effective to reduce its gravity and to improve the symptomatology. The patients dealt with FABROVEN considerably diminish the functional symptomatology of the inferior extremities mainly the presence of the pain, cramps and edema improving the quality of life of these patients. With an acceptable gastric tolerance to the treatment in the long term.
